Sir Sagramore is one of the Knights of the Round Table under King Arthur. He is the grandson of Attila the Hun and also in line to the throne of Byzantium. He constantly gets his English confused and is a follower of tangrism. He married Lady Sebile to preserve her honour when he accidentally got into bed with her.

Description

Appearance

His skin was a swarthy gold, his face beardless and his eyes tapered. He wore leather armour and a peaked cap with fur-lined ear flaps. His cheek was scarred; a self-inflicted wound upon the death of his mother when he still lived in Hungary. He also owns a chef's hat, but nobody knows where it came from.

Personality

Sagramore is an expert cook and enjoys the act, taking it very seriously. He has learnt the chivalrous ways of Arthur's court, but sometimes takes them too seriously.

Voice

He spoke with a thick accent that many found difficult to understand. He will often mix up words, pronounce them strangely or not understand the words of others.

Sagramore believes in tangrism, which is more like magic than spiritual belief. He may make blessings.

Sagramore is one of the few Knights of the Round Table that can rival Sir Tristram with a bow.

Sagramore is considered the best rider amongst the knights, having practically grown up in the saddle as per the spirit of his Hunnic civilisation.

History

Pre-Space Camelot

Sagramore is the grandchild of Attila the Hun, known as the Scourge of God, and was born as an heir to Hungary before he joined the Knights of the Round Table.

Travelling the Stars

Led by King Arthur, many people of the British Isles left the planet Earth aboard the ship they called Camelot to find a new planet to settle.

Algernon

Eventually they found the planet Algernon and decided this would be their new world (tba). Sirs Gawain, Sagramore and Percival were tasked with exploring what they named Perce Forest. After four days of travel, they found mist was rising from the very soil of the forest and they took it to be an ill omen. They heard a young woman's giggling in the air, which disturbed Gawain though Percival tried to see it as innocent. They followed the sound and discovered the Red Castle deep in the forest, with two pillars of magic at the gate that were burning aether. Percival, still looking on the bright side, suggested they could go inside to sleep in the beds, despite the possible danger the mysterious castle represented. They went inside to find that it appeared to have been abandoned, with everything covered in dust from age. While Sagramore went to the kitchen with the meat they had hunted, Gawain went to the parlour. Percival chose to go out to fetch firewood to start a fire. A moment later, a teenage girl appeared at the window and startled Gawain. She reported that this was her home, but asked if she was allowed to come inside. She didn't understand what a "witch" was, but was clearly using magic to move around the house and open and close doors. When Percival couldn't get through the front door, she used magic to open it for him. Sebile was taken by surprise, but also curiosity, when Percival, brimming with chivalry, kissed her hand. When she discovered they were cooking, she wanted to see. Percival went to start the fire, though Sebile offered to do it, while Gawain took the lady to the kitchen. Sagramore was still cooking, with his chef's hat, but explained he was from Hungary. Sebile's confusion over the name for the country and the condition of hunger, showed her ignorance of Earth. Gawain asked if they could be allowed to stay and Sebile not only agreed, but insisted they stay forever. The front door closed. Some hours later, the knights tested the door and confirmed it was magically sealed, though their host had retired to bed. Though Gawain doesn't think it is safe to sleep there, Percival insisted that he was exhausted. They inspected the bedrooms and each chose a room for the night. Gawain refused the blessing offered by Sagramore from his tangrism belief, but Gawain refused and, instead, offered a prayer to the Christian God. He then experienced images in a mindscape, a dream-like place, where Sebile offered him wealth, power, sex until he struggled to return to reality. There Sebile got onto his bed and offered herself to him, but he refused. She asked what wish he would have, he merely wanted everyone to be happy. She was entertained by this, claiming Percival had said the same, before she then vanished. He dressed and rushed out of his room to find Percival there too. They rushed to find Sagramore, where they find him shocked but with Sebile, naked, in his bed. He proclaimed that he hadn't done anything and she stated he had just climbed into her bed, unwittingly, as she lay there. In order to preserve his, and her, honour, Sagramore offered to marry her. Gawain knew he had been tricked into this, but Percival was thrilled and Sebile instantly accepted. She, having seen into the minds of the knights, used the honour-system of their culture to ensnare Sagramore.

Britt's Commentary

"Attila the Hun is based on the real Attila the Hun of history. His connection to the fictional character of Sir Sagramore is my own fabrication to add depth to the character and to explain the character's connection to the throne of Hungary. The original character was a Christian that was heir to the throne, but Hungary did not convert until 1000AD and, technically, there was no kingdom of Hungary as such." ~ Britt the Writer
