Rome was an ancient kingdom of Europe that conquered much of the land and altered the culture of nations for centuries to come. Its fall to German tribes marked the beginning of the Dark Ages, though its legacy continued on through the Christian faith that dominated much of the world forever after and the Catholic denomination continued to operate from Rome itself under the Pope.
