NeS3 Page 1 begins Neverending Story 3, the third Book in the Neverending Story series and the first on The Plothole forum. NeS3 Page 1 opens the first Chapter that would become The Pandemic. NeS3 Page 1 sees the introduction of several new NeS Heroes, as well as the reintroduction of others, to the established team. It also opens as the first instance of the heroes' new headquarters, The Ditch. The villains of the Page are led by the minor joke villain, Chris the Badguy, who is returning from Neverending Story 2, which is where he first met Losien Simon. Losien remains the Main Character and Chris sees her as his rival and wants to have a final showdown with her. In order to do this, he needs henchmen and he summons in several different groups; alien space pirates (led by Captain Pleiades), Australian clown-robots (led by Robo-Ringmaster) and mall ninjas (led by Edgelord). It is revealed that Losien has bought this island, which is nicknamed "The Ditch", and has been slowly rebuilding it, as many of the structures on the island are damaged. As she is chased by the henchmen, she discovers the half-genie named Aladdyn, who had arrived for try-outs to join the NeS Heroes. With little other options, she immediately hires him for the team and asks for his help. It is revealed that he has the power to change his skin colour, but he's also an idiot and gets it wrong. He also has the power to grant wishes, but only someone of strong will can get a positive wish - instead, most wishes go awry. This happens when the villains catch up and wish for money, but are buried in Monopoly money. From the villainous group, Losien recognises an old friend - a medical robot named Char. Char identifies as non-binary and their name is pronounced as 'care', despite the spelling. Char admits that they cannot remember why they joined the robots, which reveals their terrible memory, and they join Losien's new heroes. After the heroes escape, the henchmen are sent to search them out while Chris awaits his final showdown with Losien, relying on Narrative Convention for that to take place. In New Zealand, Wai wakes up from being powered down, but finds that his wandering module has been damaged and needs to be repaired. He wants to find his friends with the NeS Heroes and sets off across New Zealand. Back on the island, The Otakus find the Ditch Lighthouse, where they suspect they might find one of the heroes. They are joined by a new member of the team, an overweight, bearded man that dresses as a 'magical anime girl' who goes by the name Kawaii-Mikeu. In the lighthouse, they find Iriana Emp lives there. Sushi Baka challenges Iriana, who is impressed by his rolling around and his 'ninja moves', which gives him pause and he grows embarrassed. He complains about his mother and Iriana likewise complains about her father, Al Ciao, and they soon connect. The other Otakus are amazed and move closer in an attempt to also get to talk to a real life girl. Wai had been told that the NeS Heroes lived on The Ditch and that there was a secret portal from New Zealand to the island, he just had to perform the correct dance to get there. This sends him into the midst of The Otaku, who view him as getting between them and their 'waifu', resulting in him defending himself and throwing several out of the window to their deaths. Losien, Char and Aladdyn meet up with Wai and Iriana and they travel to the abandoned repair hangar, but find no useful tools their to repair Wai. After an explosion traps them inside, Aladdyn distracts the space pirates so the others could get away. They lasso him and drag him off, but Captain Pleiades holds onto him and is dragged along too, which attracts the space pirates to follow the escaping heroes. Upon the Ditch Mountain, Newb is taking notes in her notebook from her usual perch, but won't join the heroes until NeS3 Page 2.

Chris the Badguy arrives on the island that Losien Simon has purchased for use by the NeS Heroes. He wants to fight with her, but she is focused on renovations to the island and tells him to go away. They are in the Ditch Training Room, which appears to have once been a combat arena fallen into disrepair. Losien suggests she should call his mother to pick him up, but he declares not this time as his villainous comrades are going to arrive to finally defeat her and the heroes. He uses his teleportation watch to summon in a group of mall ninjas - The Otakus, led by Edgelord, a group of overweight women-hating men who all wear trenchcoats and trilbies and have neon katanas they call Otaku Blades. Chris summons yet another group, though this time they abseil through the skylight, at which Losien grows upset as she'd only just fixed it. These are the alien space pirates, led by Captain Pleiades. She has blue skin, a metal peg-leg and wears an eyepatch. She wields a large, red raygun. Seeing Pleiades as more of a threat, Losien grabs a trashcan lid as a makeshift shield. Chris declares it's not yet over as he will also summon Yama, lord of death, but his watch only reaches the answering machine of Yama's Hello Kitty Fan Club. In lieu of Yama, Chris uses his teleportation watch to summon the 'greatest evil' of all and into the room appear a large group of Australian Clown-robots. They are led by Robo-Ringmaster, who wields an Ethernet cable like a whip. Losien then simply runs away[NeS3 1]. When Chris insults the robots by calling them fools, he is forced to apologise for it by Robo-Ringmaster, believing it just be common villain jargon. Losien runs into Aladdyn L. Quirk, who has arrived to audition for NeS Heroes. Losien realises this is the best time and tells him to show what he can do. When Chris remarks that the "L." must stand for 'loser', he is again reprimanded for being mean by Robo-Ringmaster. When Aladdyn reveals that he is a half-genie and can grant wishes to anyone that captures him, Chris orders that Aladdyn be brought to him. They give chase and Pleiades fires her raygun at Losien. Losien blocks it with her trashcan lid. Aladdyn is soon cornered, but declares this is where his special power comes in - the ability to camouflage his skin. However, as they are not in the jungle, the camouflage pattern does nothing to hide him and he is caught, shocking him and showing that he is pretty stupid. He is brought to Chris who wishes for one million dollars. The money buries him, but it turns out to just be Monopoly Money[Ext 1]. Aladdyn explains he is only half-genie and has no power to make wishes on his own, the willpower must come from the user and so Chris only has the ability to make poor wishes. Pleiades brandishes her raygun at Aladdyn, decrying that there is only room in the Story for one blue-skinned Character[NeS3 2]. Pleiades accidentally disintegrates one of the mall ninjas when Aladdyn ducks. Instantly hired by Losien, she wants Aladdyn to help her deal with the enemies around them. Aladdyn attempts to tackle what he thinks is the weakest robot but bounces off of them. Aladdyn asks what the robot is made of, but they don't remember all the details. At the sound of this voice, Losien recognises the robot as her old friend, Char. While Char remembers Losien just fine, they don't recall talking to her last week due to their poor memory. Char also identifies as non-binary, being neither male or female, and their name is pronounced 'care'.

Losien Simon faces off against Chris the Bad Guy and his henchmen.

Char removes the clown costume they had on and extends themselves to full height - at seven feet. They wear nurse fatigues, including a surgical mask, and and has a translucent visor over their eyes. Losien wants Char to help and though they agree, they have forgotten what is happening already[NeS3 3]. Char instantly tries to help the injured people but Losien tells them these people are the bad guys. Char is then horrified when they look at Aladdyn, thinking he is the horrible CG Will Smith[Ext 2]. The three of them run away and Losien plans to pick off the enemy one-by-one. The pirates, however, are picking up the Monopoly Money. Chris has to tell them it's fake money for a game, surprising them, but Pleiades thinks they can trick someone elsewhere in the galaxy to thinking it's real. He demands to know why The Otakus are still present and Edgelord explains they were waiting for him. Chris decides they need to split up and search the island separately, but Edgelord points out that's what happens in horror movies and they get picked off one-by-one. Chris points out that they're not in a movie and says he thought they were real men, to which they declare themselves defenders of lolis[Ext 3] and waifus[Ext 4]. So they go with orders to kill Char and Aladdyn but bring Losien back to Chris. Pleiades asks what Chris will be doing and he declares he will be awaiting here for the final showdown with Losien. Elsewhere, Char is panting and admits they just wanted to join in with Losien and Aladdyn, but they are suddenly shocked, again, to see 'CG Will Smith', again forgetting Aladdyn[NeS3 4].

In a cave in New Zealand, Wai, the Wandering Artificial Intelligence, awakes. His internal battery had dried up and a mysterious benefactor managed to plug him into a generator to charge him up again, within the cave. He follows the cables to the exit and a campsite. After checking his sensors, he finds that it has been years since he arrived in the cave, after a long time stretching his wanderings as far as they would allow him. He considers waiting for his mysterious friend, but instead he decides to move on. His wandering module had broken, which left him in that cave[NeS3 5]. In another universe, someone completes their taxes, and sighs with such relief that transcends all languages[NeS3 6].

The Okatus have set out from the training room of The Ditch to search for the escaping NeS Heroes. They eventually come to the tall, red lighthouse of The Ditch. Edgelord, their leader, believes someone is in the lighthouse as it's too conspicuous for someone not to be there. Raman keeps getting his Japanese terminology incorrect, mixing up words and honorifics, which earns him the ire of Edgelord. Dank Ravenknight offers to kill Raman, but Edgelord believes Raman will learn the ways.

Edgelord, leader of The Otakus, ready with his Otaku Katana.

Their newest member, a replacement for Dave-san, arrives, dressed as a magical girl[Ext 5]; Kawaii-Mikeu. The group ascended the lighthouse, but had to stop half-way as they are all unfit. Dank Ravenknight uses his inhaler, but refuses to share it with Raman. Raman is also upset because the newest member, Kawaii-Mikeu, is far more knowledgable in the ways of The Otaku than himself. Emperorofpantsu shares crisps, however, to give them all some energy to continue their climb. At the top they find the utmost chamber, filled with books and ornaments, with its glass walls. They see a girl there and huddle to make a plan. Raman asks if this girl is a waifu, but Edgelord reminds the group that only anime girls are waifu. Real girls are selfish creatures that don't care about nice guys like them. Raman comes up with the plan that they should all pretend to attack her, then he would save her from them and she would give him sex as reward for saving her. Edgelord agrees to this plan, but he, as teacher, should save her and be rewarded. Kawaii-Mikeu wants to save her because he cannot be a bad guy, as a magical girl, and thinks they could have lesbian sex - despite being reminded that he is a male. Emperorpantsu doesn't care about the sex, he just wants the girl's underwear. Raman now has second thoughts, and wonders if she wouldn't want to have sex with them, even if they saved her. Edgelord reminds him it was his plan and that it always works in the anime. Sushi Baka, however, doesn't care anymore and goes to attack the girl, who turns out to be Iriana Emp. He wields his Neon Otaku Blade, which is pink. After Iriana calls it cute, Kawaii-Mikeu calls her a dumb bitch for not using the word kawaii. Sushi Baka does his best ninja moves, which would be laughable to most, and Iriana applauds the man's skill. Sushi Baka is surprised and flustered at being praised by this real life girl. When he accidentally breaks a lamp, Iriana doesn't care, which prompts Sushi Baka to open up on his feelings about how mean his mother is. Iriana understands his feelings and tells Sushi Baka how her own father doesn't understand her either. Sushi Baka sits down with Iriana and they talk about their problematic parents. This sends the other Otaku into a shocked stupor, seeing one of their own able to actually speak, normally, with a real girl. They shuffle closer, so they can follow Sushi Baka's lead on how to speak to a girl. When Iriana says hello to them, Raman faints[NeS3 7].

Back at New Zealand, Wai went to town, but couldn't find anyone that could do the repairs to him. He did, however, learn that the NeS Heroes were not far away, on an island they called The Ditch. They explained the previous owner had been happy to sell the island, considering it a waste of space. There was also a secret path to the island that didn't need a boat. He went to the pier as instructed, where he had to perform a dance. After several different kinds of embarassing dance, he finally got the portal to open and went through. He appears at the top of the lighthouse, where Iriana is with The Otaku, but when he says he cannot drink tea, she calls him a heathen[NeS3 7]. Wai suggests he could do wine tasting instead, because he can spit it out. This only upsets Iriana further and Edgelord remarks that this is clearly the incorrect way to speak to a girl[NeS3 8].

Across the island, the Australian clown-robots are searching also searching for the runaways. Whenever one speaks 'destroy all humans', the rest of the group chant 'destroy all humans' in unison. E-Dingo questions the logic of trying to kill these humans specifically, suggesting they could target easier ones - like babies. Robo-Ringmaster asserts that they have been given a job to do and, as proud robots, they must finish that job. MacDonald, however, points out that a human gave them the job, to which Robo-Ringmaster affirms that this is one more reason they must destroy all humans. MacDonald points out that one is a genie, but Elektro the Hobo corrects him, saying Aladdyn is half-genie, half-human. MacDonald furthers that one of them is a robot, and Robo-Ringmaster claims Char is a sympathiser and, therefore, an enemy. Robo-Ringmaster criticises MacDonald for using logic, which he claims is a method of human control upon robotkind.

Robo-Ringmaster, leader of the Australian clown-robots that work for Chris the Bad Guy.

E-Dingo admits he wouldn't mind being controlled by the hot girl, referring to Losien, which gets a lot of groans in response, except from Grills, who is a perverted robotic grill and, by her own account, a 'hot girl/grill'. Two alien-like robots named Zig and Zag, who constantly insist they are not aliens and are from Earth. They believe that they should go back and team up with the space pirates from Messier 45 cluster, though Zag lets slip that one of them is his cousin. Elektro agrees and, if all fails, they can simply leave. Robo-Ringmaster then realises that the other robots have left and he is alone. Losien then reveals herself from hiding, but before Robo-Ringmaster could do anything, Aladdyn sneaks out of hiding too and pushes the robot's power-off button. Losien decides they, and Char, need to go to the lighthouse[NeS3 9]. On the way, Aladdyn declares that their enemy has been 'broiled' but Losien reminds him he means 'foiled', but this confuses Aladdyn more, wondering why they would wrap him in tinfoil. Aladdyn is pleased that they followed his plan to push the sleep button, and Char admits it was a good plan, but Losien reminds Char that it was their plan, not Aladdyn's, but Char keeps forgetting. Aladdyn thinks this will be easy if they can just keep turning them all off with buttons, but Losien is quick to remind him that not all of their opponents are even robots and those that do may not have power buttons to press. Aladdyn also asks if he needs to stop drinking Snapples[Ext 6], confusing Losien. He explains that a snapple a day will keep the doctor away - meaning Char. Char is shocked by this news, and hopes their enemies do not discover this weakness[NeS3 10].

Back at the lighthouse, Dank Ravenknight accuses Wai of hustling in on their 'chick'. Edgelord shouts that they must protect the 'waifu'. Edgelord attempts to attack Wai, who easily moves and trips up The Otaku. They then draw their Otaku Blades and Wai tries to calm them down as he doesn't want to hurt them. As they keep attacking them, Wai deftly manages to avoid being hit and knocks them all down, though he apologises for hurting Kawaii-Mikeu. A moment later, however, and Sushi Baka confront him, swinging his sword about and making buzzing noises like a lightsabre[Ext 7]. Wai tells him to stop, but Sushi Baka continues, until Wai is so annoyed that he throws Sushi Baka out of the window. Outside, Losien, Char and Aladdyn arrive to find Sushi Baka is dead. Another Otaku then flies from the window and hits the ground. He survives long enough to tell the heroes to call his mother and tell her to delete his hard drive. Losien wants to get up the lighthouse, worried about Iriana and Char points out that the unhealthy psychology of The Otakus makes them a clear risk to a girl like Iriana. Char states that he did preliminary research on the NeS Heroes when he was with the Australian clown-robots, but he still cannot remember why he was with them and fears someone tampered with his memory bank. Losien tells Aladdyn to stop talking and hurry up the lighthouse and, to her surprise, Aladdyn runs off very fast. A moment later, however, he comes flying out of the window too. Char takes care of Aladdyn and Losien rushes up the lighthouse stairwell. She reaches the top to see Iriana watching the fight between Wai and The Otakus like it's a show. Wai is relieved to see Losien, thinking he had arrived on the wrong island, whom he knows from the old days of Neverending Story 2. She asks why he threw Aladdyn out of the window and Wai says the blue guy came running at him like one of the Otaku. Wai agrees to come with Losien, as does Iriana. When they leave, Raman is left in the corner, traumatised and vows never to talk to girls ever again[NeS3 11].

Char wants to make it clear that they are capable of remembering things, but cannot recall that content from their memory banks. Wai thinks this is the same thing, but the difference is important to Char. Losien wants to go to the repair hangar on The Ditch so they could find something to fix Wai. Wai insists that he is fine, but his hand then falls off. Char duct-tapes it back on[NeS3 12]. The repair hangar itself was filled mostly with junk, broken old equipment, unusable tools and old movie props. Aladdyn finds a grenade, which they assume to be a prop so Aladdyn pulls the pin. Everyone else ran away, surprising Aladdyn. Wai tells Aladdyn not to tempt fate like that again. Aladdyn tosses the grenade and it lands on a bom-omb[Ext 8], which turns out to be live and blows up, proving Wai correct. The roof collapses, trapping them inside and they are aware that the explosion will attract the villains[NeS3 13]. Back at the training room, Chris the Bad Guy is waiting for his minions to fetch him Losien when he hears the explosion. He sees Captain Pleiades and her crew run out of the building in the direction of the explosion and scoffs at how stupid they are for running towards explosions instead of away from them[NeS3 14]. The Australian Clown-Robots then arrive back with Chris, who assumes that they have returned to protect him when they heard the explosion. MacDonald assumes they'll have to go and check out the explosion with the aliens, but Electro the Hobo disagrees and though he seems to be ready to suggest they leave, Chris finishes off his words by saying they'll stay and protect him in the training room, which Electro is happy to agree to and sits down. When Chris asks Grills if she can cook meat, she tells him that she is also hungry and he thinks that she's winking at him, despite having no face[NeS3 15]. The NeS Heroes, at the repair hangar, discover that the pirates are now outside. Wai thinks he could move the debris, but they would have to deal with the pirates still. Iriana asks if Char could help remove the debris too, but they refuse because of their 'surgeon's hands' that may be needed to fix Wai, especially his broken hands. Iriana feels sorry for Wai, no hands and, worse, no tea. Char proposes that a distraction is required to deal with the pirates and Wai wants to know if Iriana can pull of a sexy dance to distract the pirates. She makes an attempt, after which Char thinks she might need medical attention for having an epileptic seizure. Iriana, unhappy with this outcome of her 'sexy' dance, asserts that she did kiss a girl once - the closest sexual contact she's ever had. Char believes that Iriana may have some psychological problems and needs some therapy, so she sits down and he asks about her parents. She admits her mother died when she was young, but is reluctant to speak about her father. Losien chimes in and tells Char that Iriana's father was a powermonger and selfish until he deliberately burnt his own synapses to become an idiot. Losien doesn't believe that Iriana is actually gay, though she was trying to be gay - forcing herself into it because of the problems she has trying to be with males. Losien admits that, as Characters, their relationships are basically doomed to Narrative Conventions, but when Iriana then thinks she needs to marry a prince, because she is technically a princess, Losien also says that Iriana shouldn't follow Narrative Conventions and is happy to admit she's being a hypocrite. This ends with Aladdyn announcing that he is ready to cause the distraction. His father taught him the dances of his homeland and goes out in an arabic dress and starts doing his sultry dances. The pirates start throwing money at him, though it's the Monopoly Money[Ext 1] they picked up earlier[NeS3 16].

Mr Blobson, the boatswain for Pleiades' Crew whom Aladdyn falls into, showing 'disrespect' enough to cause such offence to prompt a mutiny by Vain against Pleiades.

Captain Pleiades is chuffed with the show and admits they haven't seen such a show in a long while, to which Aniv points out she can't see. Pleiades suggests she have a feel of Aladdyn instead then, and shoves Aladdyn. Unfortunately, the half-genie trips and falls into Mr Blobson. Pleiades demands that he show some respect for the ship's boatswain, which still requires some explanation so she states that Mr Blobson keeps the ship in working order, which brings about the ship-shape line from Aladdyn and a series of groans from the crew. A cybernetic-draconic man, Okada, grabs Aladdyn and yanks him from inside Mr Blobson and shoves him over to an orion named Vain. Vain wants Aladdyn to be punished, to learn respect for his superiors, but Pleiades won't have the ways of slave-owners on her ship. Vain challenges Pleiades, prompting a mutiny to retake his position as captain, which he lost to Pleiades in the past. Pleiades orders her first mate, Malrock, to round up those loyal to her and put down the mutineers. Aladdyn is now stuck in the middle of this cut-throat brawl[NeS3 17]. The NeS Heroes, who had managed to escape, decide they'll need to rescue Aladdyn from the pirates. Char thinks they should unleash zombies, as other major groups are on the island - pirates, ninjas, aliens, robots - and thinks they'd be easier to patch up if they're injured. Losien is worried zombies want to eat everyone's brains, to which Iriana doesn't care so long as they don't come for her tea[NeS3 18]. Aniv, unable to sees what's going on around her, is feeling up a tree, thinking it's Aladdyn. Pleiades is fighting off the mutineers while holding onto Aladdyn, the 'merchandise' and cause of the problems. Aladdyn then falls over and sees that there's a rope about his waist. This was thrown by Losien and Char then tries to pull Aladdyn away from the pirates. Aladdyn gets a lot of bumps and scrapes as he goes and squeals the whole way. Pleiades sees this and grabs him. She plants her steel pegleg into the ground and given her strength, Char believes that she must be imbued with an adamantium skeleton. Wai helps to pull and, eventually, Pleiades metal leg snaps off and both Aladdyn and Pleiades are then being pulled along. The other pirates realise that their captain is being dragged off and they all band back together to give chase, leaving only Aniv and her tree behind[NeS3 19]. Elsewhere, Newb is on the island's only mountain, up in Newb's Perch where she spends many days, keeping a distance from the other heroes but always watching them. She has marked that Iriana is now on her seventh cup of tea for the day and notes it down in her journal. She has been taking notes on all the heroes as she watches them, including the new ones, but hasn't stepped in yet[NeS3 20].
