A Bagon Noz Drive allows ships to travel at faster-than-light speeds across the NeSiverse by slipping out of real-space and into Tartarus; a demonic dimension that runs parallel to reality. In Tartarus there is no time in the conventional sense, so ships can appear almost instantaneously on the other side. Few ships use this drive due to the danger of passing into netherflame and encountering demons within Tartarus itself. Many have died or been driven mad by the experience. Only the most desperate or the most confident would usually rely on such a drive.

Functionality

When the door to Tartarus is opened, a power mage can expand the opening to be wider[Tales 1]. If several ships enter Tartarus at once, their passage will be slowed as they draw more attention from the demonic creatures of Tartarus who look at the ships[Tales 2].

Kalor Varkesh was upgraded to use a Bagon Noz Drive, which proved to be faster than astral travel used by The Lamb of The Imperium. Varkesh was well-suited to the netherflame of Tartarus as it was made from a netherwyrm, which fires netherflame from its mouth[Tales 3].

Notes

Britt's Commentary

"The name of the drive comes from Brythonic[Ext 1] mythology where the ships that carried the dead were called Bag an Noz." ~ Britt the Writer
